    The brief
Camerich are a high end international furniture company with five showrooms in London. Their brand and furniture style is sleek and modern – which was at odds with their slow and poorly structured website. The site was extremely out of date in terms of design, was built in WordPress with a record number of plugins and was not responsive. The slow page loads and awkward design meant that the website was the only area of the Camerich UK operation that was producing a negative brand experience. They commissioned us to design and develop a new website from scratch to showcase their extensive range of modern designer furniture on-message and on-brand.

    The solution
Camerich make a variety of furniture but the area they are most known for is modern modular sofas. We developed a bespoke website that allows users to customise sofa styles from the many components of each range, to give a customer a clear idea of what's available before visiting a showroom. Customised selections can have over 75 fabric and leather coverings applied to them on-screen, and these can be shared over social media, emailed, saved or printed to give users a quick comparison tool. We discovered that Camerich have an excellent photo library of products and showrooms so we opted to showcase these to the fullest extent possible with a large resizing JavaScript header that adapts to the browser viewport. The site has a full-featured Content Management System that gives administrators user friendly tools to keep the site up to date, plus an admin console to monitor and manage swatch, brochure and trade applications.

    • Average time on site increased by over 1.5 minutes
    • Average page views increased by 50%
    • Bounce rate halved
    • Google positioning now top 10 for 8 key phrases

A PHP website with bespoke Content Management System and admin management console. The site includes a swatch ordering system, a blog, sofa customiser and product selector.

Built using HTML5, CSS, Javascript/jQuery in PHP with a MySQL database.

    Client's reaction
"I am sure I speak for all when I say we are extremely pleased with the comprehensive service Drum provide us. We were wary of outsourcing such vital parts of our business but Drum picked up immediately what the brand was about and distilled it in our digital media offering, often going beyond the brief to add value too. On the technical side the speed of response and willingness to work within our existing protocols has allowed a seamless transition from in-house web-updates, development and maintenance to an outsourced solution that has reduced the cost-base and improved the output."

    Environmental Policy

We recognise that our day to day operations inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways and we work to reduce any potentially harmful effects of such activities whenever we can.

We have widely adopted a 'paperless' approach to business communications. Our web based IT systems substitute for paper messages and very often travel. We teleconference and video conference at every opportunity and we view conservation of resources and the environment as a basic business necessity.

    Specifically, Drum will:

    • Operate a car sharing policy for all staff.
    • Encourage a cycle to work policy for all staff.
    • Ensure that our policies are implemented by all staff and help them understand the relevant aspects of the policy through guidelines, regular communications and action plans.
    • Promote the recycling of office materials and items purchased and use recycled materials wherever possible.
    • Minimise waste in operations and product development, and conserve resources through efficient use and planning.
    • Regard environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice as the minimum standards of environmental practice.
